Setting Up Pinnacle for Use

When you first install Pinnacle on your system, the database of information where Pinnacle stores information about your assets, properties, and so on, will be blank. There are no user IDs in the database, except for the Pinnacle Administrator User.

To allow people to use Pinnacle, the system administrator will need to perform the following set up steps:

  1. Review the Administration Module Access Rights, and decide on your Security Group structure. This may need to be discussed with your Pinnacle users to determine the appropriate group structure.

  2. Determine what users need access to Pinnacle, and decide what Security Groups those users should belong to. Remember that a user can belong to more than one group. This may need to be discussed with your Pinnacle users to determine the appropriate group membership.

  3. Run Pinnacle and log in as the Pinnacle Administrator User.

This will give you access to the Administration Module only.

  4. Open the Users table, and add your users to Pinnacle.

  5. Open the Groups table, and add your security groups to Pinnacle.

  6. Assign the Users to Security Groups.

  7. Assign the appropriate access rights to the Security Groups.

Following these set up steps will enable all your users to access Pinnacle, with the appropriate levels of security.
