The Ledger Structure window allows you to define how many components are in your chart of accounts, and how many levels each component has.
The Ledger Structure table has several different tabs for defining your chart of accounts structure. The tabs are: Components and Levels.
The Components tab shows the component structures that have been set up in Pinnacle. You can have a minimum of one component structure, and a maximum of three component structures in your components list. If you try to delete the only component structure, or try to add too many component structures, Pinnacle will display an error message.
As each component structure is added, Pinnacle will automatically assign a number to the component structure. You cannot alter this number. If you wish to delete a component structure, you can only delete the most recently defined component structure. For example, if you have defined three component structures, you will only be able to delete the component structure that is number three. You will not be able to delete component structures one or two. If you only have two component structures defined, you will only be able to delete number two, not number one.
You can enter the following information about a component structure:
Component Name - This is the name of the component structure. You must enter a name for each component structure.
The Levels tab displays the levels that have been defined for the current component structure. You can have a minimum of one level, and a maximum of four levels in your levels list. If you try to delete the only level for a component structure, or try to add too many levels, Pinnacle will display an error message.
As each level is added, Pinnacle will automatically assign a number to the level. You cannot alter this number. If you wish to delete a level, you can only delete the most recently defined level. For example, if you have defined four levels, you will only be able to delete the level numbered four. You will not be able to delete levels one, two or three.
You can enter the following information about a level:
Level Format - This is the format of the budget code for the budget codes that are defined as this component and level throughout the Budget Module.
Display - This check box determines whether the budget codes that are defined as this component and level will be displayed in the drop down list boxes throughout the Budget Module.
