The Pinnacle Assets Module has a number of user definable settings which may be specified in the Application Settings window. This window can be accessed by choosing the Application Settings menu option from the Maintain menu in the Administration Module.
The Application Settings window has several options for the Asset Module: Field Names, Formats, Financial, Revaluation Notice, Posting Accounts, Cloning, FMIS, and Others.
The Field Names option allows you to specify some names to use in the Asset module if the default values do not suit your organisation. The field names you specify will be used throughout Pinnacle wherever the field appears.

The Formats option allows you to define the field formats for some fields in the Asset Module. Any data entered into these fields will be forced to match the format specified.
The formats that you can specify are:

The Financial option allows you to specify defaults relating to the financial calculations in Pinnacle.
Default Depreciation Book - This is the depreciation book to be displayed by default on the Financial Tab and the Financial Adjustments Tab of the Assets window. This book is also used to provide the default Acquisition Values for assets when new depreciation books are added. You must select a book from the list of all active depreciation books defined in Pinnacle.
Default Posting Book - This is the book that will be posted against in the ledger. This cannot be altered, but you may rename this book from the Depreciation Books table.
Prompt for Reposting when Account Code Changes - This indicates whether you will be prompted for reposting accounts when you change the account code component 2 or component 3 of an asset.
Prompt for Reposting when Asset Type Changes - This indicates whether you will be prompted for reposting accounts when you change the asset type of an asset.
Prompt for Reposting when Acquisition Price Changes - This indicates whether you will be prompted for reposting accounts when you change the acquisition price of an asset.
Financial Year Start Day - This is the day of the month for the financial year to start on. Pinnacle uses this day when calculating depreciation and book values for assets for non-tax depreciation books. This value must be valid for the month selected.
Financial Year Start Month - This is the month for the financial year to start on. Pinnacle uses this month when calculating depreciation and book values for assets for non-tax depreciation books.
Taxation Year Start Day - This is the day of the month for the taxation year to start on. Pinnacle uses this day when calculating depreciation and book values for assets for tax depreciation books. This value must be valid for the month selected.
Taxation Year Start Month - This is the month for the taxation year to start on. Pinnacle uses this month when calculating depreciation and book values for assets for tax depreciation books.
Value Added Tax Abbreviation - The name for Value Added Tax in your country. This name will be used for the Value Added Tax field throughout Pinnacle.
Value Added Tax Rate - The rate at which Value Added Tax is charged in your country. This rate will be used wherever automatic Value Added Tax is calculated in Pinnacle.
The Revaluation Notice option allows you to define a warning notice containing excerpts from accounting standards about revaluations. It may be displayed for users who choose to add a net or gross revaluation adjustment, either through the Bulk Add Financial Adjustment window or from the Asset window's Financial Adjustments tab.
Show Revaluation Notice - This indicates whether the notice will appear during the addition of a net or gross revaluation adjustment.
Revaluation Notice - This is the text that appears in the notice.
The Postings Accounts option allows you to define default asset posting account codes that are recorded by default against new asset types. The following account codes can be selected:

The Cloning option allows you to select which of the check boxes displayed when you are cloning an asset are checked on by default. The check boxes are:

This option is only available if a link to the System Union SunSystems financial management system has been implemented. The information that you can define is:
Addition Journal Type - Indicates the SunSystems Journal type to be used for addition journals.
First M-Code - Indicates which SunSystems Analysis Code (M-Code) will be used within Pinnacle as the second budget component.
Second M-Code - Indicates which SunSystems Analysis Code (M-Code) will be used within Pinnacle as the third budget component.
Depreciation Journal Type - Indicates the SunSystems Journal type to be used for depreciation journals.
Disposal Journal Type - Indicates the SunSystems Journal type to be used for disposal journals.
SunSystems Journal Text File - Indicates the name of the text file to create when extracting summarised posting information for import into SunSystems as journal transactions.
T-Code mapped to first M-Code - Indicates which SunSystems T-Code is mapped to the first M-Code on SunSystems purchase orders and invoices.
T-Code mapped to second M-Code - Indicates which SunSystems T-Code is mapped to the second M-Code on SunSystems purchase orders and invoices.
Price Change Journal Type - Indicates the SunSystems Journal type to be used for price change journals.
Revaluation Journal Type - Indicates the SunSystems Journal type to be used for revaluation journals.
The Others option allows you to specify other default information for the Asset module. The information that you can define is:
Default Store Location - This is the default physical location that assets are placed in when returned to store. You must select a valid location from the list of locations defined in Pinnacle.
Default Asset Class to Add - This is the default asset class to display when adding an asset. You can choose an asset class from three of the four asset classes in Pinnacle. You can only choose Fixed, Equipment or Software. You cannot choose to add Property assets by default.
Equipment Browser - This is whether you want to display equipment details for an asset on the left hand side of the Asset Browse window. This is useful if you would like to see the asset equipment details as the first items. You can only select this option if you have access to the MWA Module.
Display Category Code on Tree Browser - This indicates whether to display the category code on the Asset Tree Browse window.
Automatic Event Notification - This indicates whether to open the Event Notification window each time you enter the Assets Module.
Check Maintenance Expiry X days in Advance - This is the number of days before a maintenance contract is due to expire to include the maintenance contract on the Event Notification window.
Default Condition Rating - This is the default condition rating passed to a PDA for the Asset Stocktake process. This is not applicable to any other type of barcode reader.
