A Planned Maintenance Template passes through a small life cycle which consists of two stages. The stages are:
Registered - When a new Planned Maintenance Template is raised, its status is set to Registered. A registered Template has no tasks, and cannot proceed to the subsequent stages of the life cycle until tasks are added. Templates can be cancelled, but work orders will not be automatically raised from a template until its status is Outstanding.
Outstanding - Once a Planned Maintenance Template has tasks, its status is set to Outstanding. An outstanding Planned Maintenance Template can be cancelled. The system will automatically generate work orders from an Outstanding template. You can also manually create a work order from a Template.
In addition to the two normal stages of a PM Template's life cycle, you can also change the status of a Template to Cancelled. No editing can be done to cancelled Templates, other than editing the Template comments.
