The Stock Categories are used broadly group stock items. For example, your category might be "Stationery". Under this category, the stock items might be "A4 Paper", "Envelopes", and so on.
You can enter the following information about a category:
Description - You use the category description to broadly classify the types of stock items that are recorded. You must enter a description, and the description must be unique.
Material Item - Whether stock items of this category can be material items. Material items are used for Maintenance Work Orders.
Note: Once you have flagged a category as material items, and stock items of that category have been used against work orders or templates, you cannot remove the material flag from a category.
