Resource Balancing Overview

Resource Balancing is a method that allows the labour required to complete a schedule to be checked against known availability for a given period in order to determine if the schedule can be completed. When a schedule is created and work orders added to it, the resources required to complete the schedule are subtracted from the maximum available resources for a skill for a scheduling period.

Resource Balancing can identify which skills are in high demand for a given period, and which skills are under utilised.

A given skill in a scheduling period has a finite number of hours available in which to complete maintenance tasks. The number of hours available depends on the length of the Scheduling period and the number of hours available to be worked each day.
