System Overview

A system is a structure that you set up that allows you to group equipment assets at different levels within a hierarchy. You can define the number of levels within a system (up to seven levels), and define the names of each level.

You can then create items at each level of the system hierarchy, and attach equipment assets to the item. This allows you to keep track of which assets belong to the system.

For example, you might want to set up a system called "Air Conditioning". The system has three different levels: "Air conditioning Plant", "Sub-stations", "Room Vents". Your equipment asset that is the main air conditioning plant would be attached to the hierarchy at the top level, then air-conditioning units on each floor would be "Sub-stations", and finally the vents in each room would be attached to the hierarchy at the third level.

When you have attached equipment assets to a system you can then view for a system the MWAs that have been created for assets belonging to the system, and the total cost to maintain the system. So in the above example, you could see at a glance what your air conditioning system has cost you to maintain and run.
