Why Can't I Edit the Contract Details Window

A Contract's status may prevent you from editing the Contract's Details Window. When a Contract's status is Cancelled no fields on the details window are accessible. Also, during various phases of a Contract's Life Cycle certain fields cannot be accessed; for example, when a Contract has expired the Contract Type, Total Estimated Value, Total Yearly Value, Vendor etc. are not accessible or editable.
