Uploading ADC Data from the Barcode Reader/PDA

To upload ADC data from a barcode reader or PDA into Pinnacle:

  1. Run the Asset Module.

  2. On the barcode reader or PDA, follow the prompts to transfer ADC data to Pinnacle.

  3. If you are using a barcode reader, choose Upload Data>Data Capture from the Interface menu in Pinnacle.

If you are using a PDA, choose Upload Data>All from the Interface menu in Pinnacle.

  4. If you are using a barcode reader, Pinnacle will upload the data from the barcode reader. The system will then display the asset tracking data window where you can select which movement records you want to process.

If you are using a PDA, Pinnacle will ask if you want to process the upload file from synchronisation. Click Yes. Pinnacle will then automatically process all movement records.

  1. Both the barcode reader/PDA and Pinnacle should display a message indicating that data is being transferred.

  2. At the end of the upload, Pinnacle will report the number of assets added during the upload. If an asset could not be added to Pinnacle for any reason, the system will ask if a report should be printed detailing the error. Click the Yes button to print the report.

Data should be cleared from the barcode reader or PDA after each upload. If data is not cleared, each asset will be reported as an exception during the next upload because the system will try to add the assets again with the same barcode number as existing assets. While this does not do any harm to the system, the error report produced at the end of the upload will be unnecessarily long. Follow the barcode reader or PDA prompts to clear data.
