Issuing Software Assets

Software assets are not issued in the same way as Fixed and Equipment assets. Software assets are not issued to a person, section or institution, but they are issued to Fixed or Equipment assets. They become a component of the asset that they are issued to.

A Software asset must have an asset description before it can be issued. This is because the Software asset details become the component details, and the component description field is mandatory.

To issue a software asset:

  1. Run the Asset Module.

  2. Open the Software asset you want to issue.

  3. Choose Issue from the Asset menu

    OR

Choose Issue from the popup menu

    OR

    Click the Issue toolbar button.

Pinnacle will display the Software Asset Issue window. The top part of the window shows some criteria to help you narrow down the list of Fixed or Equipment assets to issue to. The top part of the window also displays information about the number of licences for the Software asset, the number of licences that are currently issued, the number of licences available to issue, and the number of assets currently selected to issue to.

The bottom part of the window displays the list of Fixed and Equipment assets that you can issue the Software asset to.

  4. Highlight the assets that you want to issue the Software asset to. You can use the criteria in the top part of the window to narrow down the list of assets. Every time you select an asset to issue to, Pinnacle increases the count of assets selected to issue to.

  5. Click the OK button.

  6. Pinnacle will issue the Software asset to each selected Fixed or Equipment asset as a component.

If a licence for the software asset has already been issued to the asset, Pinnacle will ask if you want to issue another instance of the software asset to the asset. Click the Yes button if you want to issue another instance of the software asset. Click the No button if you don't want to issue another instance of the software asset.
