Institutions are external entities that you can use to issue assets to, but still keep a record of where the assets are. Institutions should be used for external organisations to whom you are issuing assets, while sections should be used to issue assets to an internal section of your organisation.
If you have the Pinnacle Assets Module, you can change the name of this lookup table if the word "Institution" does not apply to external entities for your organisation. For example, you can rename "Institution" to "Other Organisation". You can modify the name of the Institutions table from the Asset Module Defaults window in the Administration Module.
The Institutions table is divided into the following tabs: Browse, Details, and Sections.
The Browse tab is a list of the institutions that have been added to the table.
You can enter the following information about an institution:
Institution Name - You use the institution name to identify the external organisation to whom you wish to issue assets. You must enter an institution name for each institution, and the name must be unique.
Address - You can enter up to three lines of address details for the institution. This can be either the physical or postal address of the institution.
Contact First Name - The first name of the contact person for your organisation at this institution. You must enter a contact first name.
Contact Last Name - The surname of the contact person for your organisation at this institution. You must enter a contact last name.
Contact Phone Number - You can record the telephone number of the contact person at the institution. You must enter a phone number.
The Sections tab displays a list of the sections that have been linked to this institution, and displays the name of the contact person for that section. All linking and unlinking of sections to an institution is done from the Sections table.
